I wanted to start this page with that photo, because, well, yum!! I came up with this sandwich idea last night when I first thought I wanted to make a vegan Philly Cheesesteak (which I’ve never had – vegan or otherwise!).
Actually, the first thought was, “it’s Friday and I want to order junk food delivery because I had an emotional afternoon” (hahaha, no but really!). After scrolling through the delivery app for a while, I reminded myself that I’m broke AF right now and cannot be ordering dinner this month. So it was time to order from Munchies with Love Inc. (aka my kitchen since my resto dreams were shelved ðŸ˜); which also meant I had to get off my butt and get into the kitchen. Which ultimately is part of my healing process. By the time it was time to eat, I felt better and my mood was elevated again once I tasted the flavour mix. Which is a bit weird, so I get it if this doesn’t sound like you thing. If you’re a bit weird like me, you’ll probably really love it hahaha.
Alright, I still don’t have the premium website, so I don’t need to type a lot to make space for ads (it’s coming though, really, I need more income! As soon as I can afford the website upgrade!), so let’s get right to the goodies! This is just the recipe for the sandwich; the poutine is just McCain frozen fries, homemade gravy (recipe can be found here) and vegan cheese curds (these are the Farm Boy found here).
Oh, one last thing, this recipe does use a few store bought things, so just find the closest you can in your area! Same with the spices – check those special ones in the grocery aisle that are typically to season meat, many of them are vegan! Just check the ingredients carefully. Until you’re familiar with which products are safe, look up the words you aren’t sure of. Yup, you may feel like an idiot at first, in the store on your phone, but you will get used to identifying them and learn which ones you can buy regularly. I know it sounds like a lot, but if you’re vegan for the animals, then you have to beware of some ingredients outside of the obvious. Some examples are Casein, Carmine, Stearic acid, Glycerides and don’t forget about the “Vanilla Flavouring……..” (yes, go Google that now – what animal is involved in vanilla flavouring, I’ll wait).
